Platforms, hosting & ongoing care

A website you love. A plan you understand.

You do not need to know the technology. Tell me what your site needs to do and who will update it, and I will help you choose.

Three simple pieces.

Some providers bundle these together. Others let you choose them separately. I handle the setup with you.

01

Your domain

Your website's address, like yourname.ca. You renew it each year and keep the account in your name.

02

Your website platform

The tools used to build and edit your pages. We choose one that fits your content and your team's comfort level.

03

Your hosting

The service that keeps your website online. Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify include it in their website plans.

Different tools. Your own style.

Your colours, photos, wording, and pages can be customized. Extra features depend on the platform and plan. We agree on those before work begins.

Churches, news & growing content

WordPress

A flexible choice when your team posts news, events, or regular updates.

Two ways to host it
Choose a separate WordPress host, or use WordPress.com with hosting included. They are different services.
Plans to consider
WordPress.com offers Personal, Premium, Business, and Commerce. For separate hosting, we compare support, backups, and renewal costs.
What you can edit
Text, photos, pages, and posts through your site's editor. I show you how your particular setup works.
What needs care
WordPress software, themes, and plugins need updates. Backup and maintenance responsibilities are agreed with your host or with me.

Simple editing in one place

Wix

A visual editor for a business site that your team wants to update directly.

Plans to consider
Light for a straightforward website. Core or Business for more selling and business tools. Business Elite is available for larger needs.
Hosting
Included in your Wix plan. A paid plan lets you connect your own domain and remove Wix branding.
What you can edit
Text, photos, pages, and the business tools included in your plan.
Before choosing
We check the features you need. Some apps and services cost extra. Moving later to another platform may require a rebuild.

Portfolios & service businesses

Squarespace

A good option for showing your work, explaining services, and keeping pages tidy.

Plans to consider
Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced. We choose based on the tools you need and whether you sell online.
Hosting
Included in your website subscription. You manage your pages and account in one place.
What you can edit
Text, photos, blog posts, and products with the built-in editor.
Before choosing
We check selling fees and any separate booking or email marketing costs. A move to another platform may mean rebuilding parts of your site.

An online shop at the centre

Shopify

For businesses that need to manage products, payments, and customer orders.

Plans to consider
Basic, Grow, and Advanced cover many shops. Plus is an option for larger businesses.
Hosting
Included. Your store, checkout, and product tools live in the same service.
What you can edit
Products, prices, stock, photos, and store pages. Training covers the everyday tasks in your project.
Before choosing
Payment fees and paid apps can add to the subscription. We plan around your catalogue and the way you sell.

A focused site with a custom design

Custom-built websites

A site built with code can suit a brochure, portfolio, or smaller business site. It can be hosted on Netlify or Cloudflare Pages.

Hosting choices
Netlify offers Free, Personal, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Cloudflare Pages also has free and paid options. Usage limits and extra services affect the choice.
Editing it yourself
Hosting alone does not give you a page editor. If you want to make your own changes, we include an editing tool in the agreed plan. Otherwise, I can make updates for you.
What to expect
A tailored layout with room to add features. Forms, bookings, and other tools may need separate services.

Plan names and features can change. Prices depend on your country, currency, billing period, and taxes. The links above show each provider's current offers. I confirm the right plan and renewal cost with you before you subscribe.

The build. The running costs.

My design packages are separate from provider subscriptions. Your proposal lists the work, the price, and any ongoing costs before you approve it.

Project fee

Design & build

Planning, design, agreed pages, testing, launch help, and training. The quote depends on the size and features of your site.

Monthly or yearly

Keep it online

Your platform or hosting subscription and domain renewal. A business email inbox may be another cost. Introductory offers can renew at a higher price.

Only when needed

Extras & care

Paid apps, booking tools, payment fees, and ongoing help. We agree on any maintenance plan separately, including what it covers and how often.

You will not be left guessing.

Training uses your actual website. We focus on the tasks your team needs, with time to practise and ask questions.

Want me to handle future changes? Occasional help and ongoing care are available separately.

01

Learn the everyday updates

Change text and images. Update your hours or contact details. Add news, events, or products when those features are included.

02

Keep a simple guide

You receive written instructions for the editing tasks we cover. We agree on the session and who will attend as part of your project.

03

Keep control of your accounts

Your domain and platform accounts stay in your name. I help with access and explain renewals, paid tools, and who handles maintenance.

No technical background needed.

Do I have to choose a platform now?

No. Tell me what you need to show, what visitors should do, and who will make updates. We choose the platform together.

Can I keep my existing domain?

Usually, yes. We can connect your current address to the new site. I check your email setup too, so a website move does not accidentally interrupt your inbox.

Can you customize one of the demo sites?

Yes. We use it as a starting point and adapt the design to your brand. Features such as live payments or bookings need their own setup. The demos show design ideas, not a finished system for your business.

Is hosting the same as maintenance?

No. Hosting keeps the site online. Maintenance can include software updates, backups, checks, and content changes. What is included depends on your provider and any support plan we agree on.

Will my site appear on Google?

I prepare your pages so search engines can read them. This includes page titles, descriptions, and a sitemap. I can also help you set up Google Search Console in your account. Google decides when to index a site and where to rank it.

What should I send you to get started?

Your business or organization name, current website, and a short list of what you need. Share any preferred launch date or budget. A logo, photos, and page text help, but we can start with a conversation.

Tell me what you need. I'll explain the options.

No need to pick a plan first. We can start with your visitors, your goals, and what feels manageable for your team.
